"Cut it out," Hugh lashed, flinching slightly at the smack. "Just... I'm tired, alright? It's that... post-break slump or what you want to call it."

Sophia gave him a reproachful look, but she didn't retort by say anything. She just turned away, and pulled out her class supplies.

Kyle took his seat on the other side of Hugh, the first time he had seen his acquaintance since before Christmas break. He was always went home- it was one of the few escapes he had from this oppressive institution that he spent the majority of his time at. Over the last few years, it... it had just lost its interest. It was a crumbling old school that need a change in his eyes, a quite large one at that. Ignoring Sophia purposely, he gave a grin to Hugh as a greeting, "Hello, Hugh. Nice to see you after, what? Two weeks?"

"Hey." Kyle received the same lackluster regard. Not because Hugh wasn't up to speaking with him, oh no. Kyle was an arrogant prick, and this sort of greeting was the status quo.

Kyle picked up the bland response, but went with it, registering it as nothing more than previously stated, the status quo. "How have you been lately?" His voice was rather monotone, as if bored with the oncoming conversation already.

"Nothing," he replied in a preprogrammed manner. Realizing his mistake, he quickly corrected himself: "I'm fine."

Kyle's eyebrows raised slightly, something happened. "Hugh, what's going on?" Said Kyle in a harsh voice, in an almost parental tone.

"Noth..." Hugh stopped himself, pursing his lips. He then looked at Kyle, almost in questioning. "What's going on with you?"

Kyle narrowed his eyes in response, "Nothing."

Hugh nodded and looked down at his textbook. Page 623... about two hundred off.

Kyle frowned, and bitterly answered, "I'm just sick of this all, alright? I'm tired of sitting her constantly waiting for this damn school to change." His normally calm personality was quickly pierced by anger.

Oh, this again. "Yep."
